An easy way to make this classic Spanish dessert. Just like making custard, you simply add milk and sugar, bring to the boil and pour into individual tins or large pudding dish. It will make up to 20 individual size dishes. For the full effect first pour some liquid caramel into the base of the dish before adding the custard mixture.
To make your own caramel, using a microwave is the easiest way. Simply mix sugar with a small amount of water and boil in the microwave until it starts to change to a deep golden brown colour. Be careful as a few seconds longer it could go too dark and burn and you will need to start again!. Take out of the microwave (it will be vert very hot) and carefully pour into the base of your "flan" dish.
Then leave to cool and then chill for 2 hours. Turn upside down to serve.
