Turrón, for those who haven't tried it, is a delicious almond and honey nougat from Jijona near Alicante. There are two traditional varieties, Turrón de Jijona which is a soft nougat and Turrón de Alicante which is hard and brittle.
We have searched for a company that produces the best turrón and the small artisan company of Coloma Garcia certainly fits the bill. The Coloma family having making turrón for over 50 years. Their turrones and their other confectionery are all totally 100% handmade. They carefully choose the ingredients for their turrón from regions renowned for producing the finest quality natural products.
This variety is "Turrón de Alicante" which is the hard crunchy nougat version made with whole almonds. Although typically eaten at Christmas and around the celebrations of Epiphany (6th January) it is still the perfect sweet for all occasions and this one would make a most discerning gift.
