Turrón, for those who haven't tried it, is a delicious almond and honey nougat from Jijona near Alicante. There are two traditional varieties, Turrón de Jijona which is a soft nougat and Turrón de Alicante which is hard and brittle.
Turrones range immensely in both price and quality depending on the quality (and quantity) of its basic ingredients. This is an excellent turrón using only the finest roasted Marcona almonds. Many lesser brands use cheaper chopped alternatives or a mixture of other almonds. Turrón is very much a product where you get what you pay for !!.

This variety is "Turrón de Jijona" which is made by first making hard crunchy nougat and then grinding it into a paste and leaving it to set. Although typically eaten at Christmas and around the celebrations of Epiphany (6th January) it is still the perfect sweet for all occasions and this one would make a most discerning gift.
